Featured Interview For Ila Rose - Author Of High Heels & Naked Lies

We have Ila Rose here with us today, she is the author of High Heels And Naked Lies,
so let's find out a little more about her.

Hi Ila

Tell us a little about yourself.

Well I’m mother to four amazing little humans, married to a seriously lucky guy and a workaholic freak that loves every second of what I do.

How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?

I was actually pushed into it by my fabulous daughter and my now publisher/writing Goddess E.I. Jennings. I think everyone wants to create something. I was lucky enough to be given a gift by a generous woman to create something I can be proud of other then my babies.

How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

I want them to laugh, gasp, say, “Oh no she didn’t,” and then say, “Oh yes she did!” I want them to read past the touchy parts and into the message that I want to spread which is that with strength, perseverance, love and grace you can overcome anything. Women in literature tend to be weak-kneed, man needy and woe is me types that make me gag. I want my female leads to be in your face, bold, unafraid to speak their minds yet still be sexy and intelligent.

What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?

Ha, I’ve had a lot of good and a few bad. I’ve heard my book called smut for the sex and crass for the language. I’ve heard that it brought a woman to tears and I’ve heard that it inspired someone. In the beginning any negative feedback really pissed me off. It’s a bit like someone telling you that your child’s ugly even if in truth you know that he/she is kind of on the far side of beautiful. But then I decided that all negativity was a chance to improve as a writer and I used it to make myself a better author.

Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?

Well if I could make it past the child rearing years whole that would be awesome. I want to inspire women to be strong and see themselves as strong and beautiful individuals. I want my kids to be happy adults, successful also if possible only because 18 years is a long time to have them home. I’d love to eventually travel and see more than corn in my lifetime. Everything else is just a bonus.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Funny enough I read. I write, or I read or I’m working on the next project. I also have an addiction to Grey’s Anatomy and Glee that is both embarrassing and well known. I also clean, cook and do mom stuff when I can pry myself off the computer or tablet.

What can you tell us about your latest works?

I’m currently working on the next in the High Society Wives series, planning the third and writing a little something on the side just for fun. I’m also an editor for Silver Rose Publishing which is an amazing up and coming publishing company that is by far and away the most different and fulfilling thing I’ve ever been a part of.

What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

Well book two, which is called Black Ties and White Lies is coming very soon. Hopefully I can finish and release by mid July but I’m not promising. They can visit silverrosepublishing.co.uk and see the other authors that I’m proud to call friends and associates as well as submit if they’re an aspiring author. Uhm…other than that, you have to wait and see!

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?

Hi! I’m pleased to know you and I humbly thank each and every one of you for clicking that thumb or buying a copy of High Heels. This is a tough world to break into and I’ve spent more hours than I thought possible working and reworking this book to what it is today. I never started writing for the money or publicity, which is why I write under a pen name, and I really don’t want to be famous. I just want do something that shows my kids that hard work pays off. If you want something bad enough and put in the blood, sweat and tears it will pay off. And maybe be proud of me.

Do you have any parting words?

Thank you, seriously. I never, ever thought this was possible when I was scribbling like a freak into notebooks. Please never give up on your dreams. Conquer, overcome and rise! xo~ Ila Rose
