Hadley Theater, New York City, New York - Night
ENTER STAGE LEFT-Rowan Townsend, a twenty-nine year old Broadway starlet, strolls onto the dark, ominous stage. The bright spotlight finds her and she smiles broadly, her body buzzing in anticipation.

Serendipity is a funny thing, isn’t it? It jumps out from behind the bushes and offers an unbelievable chance at happiness. It’s hopeful and intriguing, and maybe even a little terrifying.
ENTER STAGE RIGHT-Lark Hawthorne, a striking twenty-nine year old FBI agent and self-proclaimed liar, marches to Rowan and grabs her arm, coaxing her off stage.
Lark
Rowan, what are you doing? We need to leave. It’s not safe here.
Rowan and Lark look out into the audience and a menacing shadow in the back of the theater catches their attention. Her eyes expand in panic and he grips her hand tighter, offering reassurance.
Lark
It’s now or never. Are you ready?
EXIT STAGE RIGHT. Fade to black.
My heart rate begins to thump erratically and I know he sees the panic in my eyes. I pull away from him, ashamed of my reaction to his admission.Danger, Rowan. Danger. The last time I allowed myself to like someone, I mean really like, he broke my heart. He jumped on another train and took a detour to a new place, leaving me in the broken boxcar. I was stuck with the task of finding the parts to make a new train. It’s not easy to allow yourself, one hundred percent, to like someone who you know is bad.
Landon was bad. He radiated playboy and I didn’t see it until I was in too deep. But with Lark, he’s mysterious. I saw it right away. And in some ways, he could be more dangerous.
I begin to open my mouth to explain that maybe we should take things slow, but he cuts me off. “I see it. I see it in your eyes. You want to run.”
My eyes skirt to the side and I don’t answer. I can’t. I’m ashamed. Hell yes I want to run. He actually admitted to liking me. This just got to a whole new level of intense. I don’t know if I’m strong enough to handle all of this.
He unlaces his fingers from mine and pulls me to my feet. Once we are both standing and facing each other, he embraces me in a strong hug. It’s fierce and full of emotion. He has this way of making a simple gesture mean so much more. Very slowly, his head dips to the crook of my neck and his deep, easy breathing fills my ears. “We don’t have to do this. We can go our separate ways when this is all over and you don’t have to see me again. But I know one day we will meet up and it’ll be completely on accident. You’ll be forty and divorced and I’ll take you out to have dinner. We’ll smile and have this same connection. And I’ll look into your eyes and you’ll be reminded of all the years lost between us. And then, at the end of the night, I’ll wait outside and hail you a cab and you’ll wonder why we wasted so much time.”
Cassie Graham is the author of Unable to Resist and Anyone But Him. She also hates talking about herself. It makes her nervous and somewhat sweaty. So, she’s going to make this short.
While writing is her true passion, her family is even more important. Her ultimate happy place is sitting in her house with her husband and daughter while writing stories about lovers who are meant to be together. She’d live in that world forever if she could.
She lives in Arizona with her husband, daughter and two crazy puppies.

EXIT STAGE RIGHT. Fade to black.
It’s been almost ten years since I’ve come face to face with the person who ruined my one shot at going to my dream college, and even now, a punch in the gut seems more appropriate than an off-hand hello or kind pleasantries. But as I watch Lark look me over, I can tell he doesn’t recognize me. In the years since high school, I’ve lost forty-five pounds and straightened my teeth, not to mention, I’ve got a boatload self-confidence. I replaced the Old Rowan with a new shinier version.
“Umm,” I stumble. “Hi.”
Why am I the first to speak?
Lark clears his throat and motions for me to enter the room. I move past him as quickly as possible, making sure not to touch him in any way and stand at the head of the table. Three additional men stand as I enter the room, each giving me an earnest smile.
“Hello, Rowan,” a man with a thick British accent greets me with the twitch of his lips. He’s got animated features, his brown eyes big and playful. “My name is Liam Hunter, this is Chris Asher,” he says, pointing to a red headed man with a full beard, then moves to another man with opaque black hair and piercing golden eyes. “And Evan Carter.”
Is it now a “thing” for the FBI to hire hot men? They are all tan, muscular and unbearably good-looking. Lark included and that really pisses me off.
“We all know why we are here,” Liam states, getting down to business. “From now on, we’ll be your shadows. For the most part, you’ll only see Mr. Hawthorne or myself.” Great…Lark Hawthorne will be around me every second of every day for the next however many days? I’m so not okay with this.

Blog Ttour For Anyone But Him By Cassie Graham

Title: Anyone But Him
Author: Cassie Graham
Release Date: Nov 25, 2014
Find on Goodreads
Whitley Hayes is an ordinary girl with a gypsy heart. College is the only constant in her life. She’s made a lot of mistakes and she intends on keeping them in the past.
Move on and forget.
That’s her motto.
Jennings Cohen is no ordinary man—not at all. He would have never imagined his life would turn into such a spectacle. The tabloids exploit him, fans stalk him and the paparazzi are relentless. It’s not always fun being Jennings.
It doesn’t help that he has a secret. One that comes at a price he’s not sure he can pay.
Relationships get complicated and hearts shatter.
It’s not easy living a lie, but it’s easier than telling the truth.

I journey past the carved-by-hand eight-person table, and walk to the master bedroom. The white, canopy bed sits in the middle of the room. The barely see-through sheets that hang on the sides move and dance in the breeze. Whit walks quietly behind me, and I turn to look at her. Eyes wide, she takes in everything the house has to offer. Setting her soda down, she walks to the queen size bed and plops down.
“Would it be completely inappropriate if I jumped on the bed?” she prompts, looking reluctant.
I give a good belly laugh, and spread out my hands. “I’d be offended if you didn’t.”
She shoots up, takes her sandals off and, in one swift hop, she lands on the bed. Bending at the knees she bounces. I sit down in a white armchair across the room and watch her as she lets loose. This is another one of those moments that is so rare, that I feel the intense want to capture this moment forever. She jumps with glee, squeaking with happiness with each bounce. Every time her feet come off of the bed, her arms go into the air. Her long blonde hair bobs with each movement, and she pushes it out of her face, just like the way she did it that day I ran into her at the beach.
“Jump with me, Jennings.”
Any macho doucheface would tell her to keep jumping and have fun. That he would sit in the chair and watch. But, I want to keep her smile fully intact for as long as possible. So, I take off my slip-on, stitched loafers and approach the bed.

- If you notice the cover, it has a lot of clues to what you’ll find in the story. Not only are there stars and rain, which are HUGE key points, but also if you look closely, you’ll see a person behind the couple taking a picture. A paparazzi.
- The idea for Anyone But Him came to me in the shower as I was listening to one of my favorite bands, MKTO. The main singer is an actor and a singer and the idea just sort of blew up from there.
- Jennings was originally named Bradley, but I saw one of my ‘likers’ last name was Jennings and had to have it. Bradley is still in the book as Jennings’ best friend.
- Holli is loosely based off of a friend I have. She’s a spunky girl from Texas with a cute twang that I love. Holli helped me a lot when writing my first book and I promised her I’d write a character into my story using her name.
- My husband and I have always had a fascination with stargazing, so I felt it was appropriate to incorporate it into the book.
- When my husband was away with the Military, we would have moon dates. He would promise me he’d go outside and look at the moon and tell me he loved me. I promised to do the same. We moon dated for six months before he came home.
- The ending was partly planned and partly unexpected. While I always promise a happily ever after, I’ve left it open ended so I can give you more of a story.
- Chapter Ten was made specifically for one of my beta readers, Ashlei. We talked and joked about Whitley and Jennings date and I decided to give it life.

“I very desperately want to kiss you.”
My mouth forms into a line. “And that’s bad because…?”
He takes a deep intake of air into his lungs and looks at me. I mean—really looks at me. Deep into my being. “Because I’m afraid if do, I won’t be able to stop.”
I elevate my body and collapse onto his chest. “Then, don’t.” If anything is like his previous kisses, I’m in for a passionate road ahead.
His hand reaches behind my head and I watch in slow motion as his beautiful face moves toward mine. The moment our lips touch, all of my other senses go haywire, feeling everything. Pleasure, need, hunger…want. So much want. I want everything he has to offer. In this moment, I don’t care what the future holds. I don’t care if he finds out about my shattered past and hates it. In this instant, I only care about him and the feelings he’s unleashing in and on my body.
His grip on my hair tightens as the kiss deepens. We moan together, feeling the pleasure poring from our bodies. His lips are sweet at first. Restrained and guarded. Almost as if he’s willing himself to slow down. But, I don’t want him controlled. I want him wild. I want him like the rain pours down. Taking no prisoners. The rain doesn’t care who it drenches; it just comes down, down, down. Soaking you. I want him forceful and firm, taking me how he wants. Just like the rain.
The thought of stopping makes me physically ill. This moment, being with him, in his warm, comforting embrace might be the most beautiful moment of my life. It’s heated and perfect. Stopping isn’t an option.
My hands move down his torso, taut and hard. His muscles move and bend under my touch and I feel myself growing wet as every second passes. The swirl of his tongue sends me high and I bite his bottom lip.
“I don’t think I’ve wanted anything or anyone as much as I want you, my Pretty Girl,” he hums in between kissing up and down my neck. “Nothing is as good as being with you. You have me soaring.”
He doesn’t have much time to say anything else before I’m pulling him up by his shirt, lifting it up and over his head. He grabs at my blouse, unbuttoning every button with detailed precision. When he opens my shirt, he simply stares, eyes electric. He puts his hand in between my breasts and just touches—feels.
“Come to bed with me. As much as I want you. Here. Now, I’ve gotta have you in bed. Slowly.”
I nod my head, unable to form any coherent words. It’s almost as if the hand that’s resting on my chest is somehow digging into my body, willing my heart to beat violently. He’s able to control me.
I wonder if I do the same.
I gently move off of his body and stand, watching him swing his legs off the couch. His body lifts and like a peacock, he looks big and alarming. Proud.
Grabbing my hand, he leads me up the stairs, stopping half way to pin me against the wall to thoroughly kiss me.
Hauling me to his room, he opens the door, turns on a small light on his nightstand and the cool air whooshes against my face. The blindingly white down blanket shines bright, but the dark, patterned pillows offset the brightness of the covers.
“Christ, you’re beautiful.”

Relationships get complicated and hearts shatter.
It’s not easy living a lie, but it’s easier than telling the truth.
“These people?” I question. I hadn’t noticed anyone else but Whitley since the moment I picked her up.
She levels her eyes, taking a drink of the water that was just delivered. I watch as she plays with the straw with her tongue, unintentionally. My mouth goes dry and I have to gulp past the lump in my throat.
“Yes, these people.” She slyly motions at the room. “Every person who’s made any sort of contact with you has this starry-eyed, dopey look to them.”
I put my arms on the table and lower my head. “You know,” I whisper. “I’m sort of famous.”
Next comes a swift kick to my shin and I wince, laughing. “Okay, okay. That was tacky.”
She covers her mouth from laughing. “Maybe a little.”
“What can I get you?” the waitress asks, interrupting us.
Whitley’s eyes widen. “Oh, umm.” She pushes the hair back from her face.
She’s so beautiful.
“Instead of the Mahi-Mahi, can I just get the one Mahi, because I’m not that hungry?”
My eyes bulge and I can’t contain my burst of laughter.
Saying nothing, the waitress pauses as Whitley looks up to her looking innocent and doe-eyed.
I have to give it to Whitley, she doesn’t break. She keeps a straight face and looks to the waitress, expecting a response.
“We,” the waitress, whose name appears to be Lacy, stutters, not understanding the movie quote. “We’re actually out of the Mahi-Mahi.”
Unaffected, Whitley closes the menu. “Oh, well, okay. I’ll just have the tilapia with roasted vegetables. Thank you.”
Lacy takes Whit’s menu, shakes her head and turns to me. “And, for you?”
Now she’s short with me.
“I’ll take the flounder. Thank you.” I smile at her, struggling to break the tension.
Lacy’s shoulders soften and she takes my menu and heads toward the kitchen.
When we’re alone, I look to Whitley. “House Bunny? Really?”
“What? I thought it was funny.”
“Me too,” I admit. Laughter is something that has been sparse in my life.
“Is it your favorite movie?”
She laughs. “House Bunny? God, no. Funny, but certainly not my favorite.”
“Then, what is?”
She takes a moment to think, not answering right away. “Honestly? I don’t really have a favorite movie. Well...I mean, maybe I do. It’s just so hard to choose. It changes all of the time.”
“Okay. Top three.”
“Umm...Princess Bride, Ferris Buller’s Day Off, and uhh—oh geeze, any Harry Potter.”
She seems embarrassed by her admission, but I sort of love her list. All classics in their own right.
“My name is Inigo Montoya. You kill my father. Prepare to die.”
“Yes!” She whoops. “Best line, ever.”
I laugh. “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
She stomps her foot under the table. “Inconceivable!”
We laugh together, and Whitley’s eyes sparkle with mischief.
“Okay, Mr. Famous, what is your top three?”
I hesitate. I’m always asked this question in interviews. Most are just hoping for their next endorsement, but I always give a generic answer. Usually, it’s the movie I’m filming or promoting at the time.
Cracking my knuckles, I try to really think about my answer. I’ve never genuinely thought about it. “Oh Christ, you can’t ask an actor that,” I laugh. “Really, I don’t know.”
Her shoulders sag. “You don’t know?”
“I don’t. I’m always in movies. I don’t have time to actually watch them. Hell, I’ve never even seen any of the movies I’ve filmed.”
“Wait, wait.” Whitley puts her hands up, stopping me. “You’ve never watched one of your own movies? Like, you’ve never watched yourself on the big screen?”
I shrug my shoulder. “Nope.”
“What?” she asks, dumbfounded. “Why? How? I mean—Jesus, Jenns, what do you do at premiers?”
I turn away, not really proud of my answer. “I leave. Slip out the back, or sit in the lobby. It’s always deserted while the film is running.”
“Then what? You return as the credits roll?”
“Basically, yeah.”
“Wow,” she breathes.
“It’s just my thing. I don’t like to watch myself. In my eyes, I could always change my performance. I could have said something with more feeling, or looked deeper into the characters eyes. I’m hard on my acting, and in turn, end up beating my myself up. It makes me a shitty actor.”
Whitley stares at me blankly as I give up one of my secrets.
It seems like hours before she blinks.
“What are you thinking?” I ask. Frankly, I’m tired of waiting for her to say something. I thought she’d at least have an opinion.
Slightly shaking her head, she drags her fingers through her hair. “Holy shit. You have no idea.”
My mouth quirks down, and I tilt my head. “I have no idea, what?”
“You are...,” her eyes haze, letting me see into that door of her soul. “You are phenomenal on screen. Charismatic and fluid. Compelling and magnetic.” She touches my hand. “You draw people in with looks alone, Jennings.”
Not that my ego needs anymore feeding, but, fuck me, hearing her say those words. Words that don’t mean shit from anyone else, makes me feel like jumping on the table and shouting for fucking joy.
My smile can’t be controlled. “You’ve seen my movies, Whitley?”
She rolls her eyes, a smirk breaking through her features. “Shut up. Everyone has."
“I didn’t peg you for someone to watch those kinds of movies.”
She snorts a laugh and rubs under her eye. “Yeah, well, you’re sort of famous.”
“You can’t resist my raw magnetism, right? God, I’m sexy.”
