Review For Gypsy (Sons of Sangue #3) by Patricia A Rasey

Book Synopsis:

Grayson “Gypsy” Gabor loves the ladies. As a matter of fact, the more the merrier. Life is good. That is until a mishap with a sexy as hell redhead leaves them mated. The eldest of vampires, Vlad Tepes, gives him a choice: keep her or give her up for all eternity to his one-time best friend, Anton.

Tamera Cantrell sets her sights on the Vice President of the Sons of Sangue, Gypsy. One night gone wrong, and she finds herself in the middle of one vampire who hates her and one who adores her. She’s left with three months to prove to the one who despises her that he can’t live without her.

Add in one Mexican Cartel, a vindictive primordial vampire, and a rival MC out for blood, and Gypsy has his hands full with club business. When Tamera’s life becomes endangered, Gypsy must act quick or chance losing her forever.

My Review:

I was given a complimentary copy of Gypsy to review, and while I did enjoy the story line and the interactions between Tamera & Grayson I don't in my opinion think it warrants the high star rating that it does have ATM, this is only my opinion of course and absolutely nothing against the author herself, as the story was well written.

Maybe it was this way because I had not read the 2 books before hand, I am not sure.

But for me it was simply like watching Thursday night TV and having a combined episode of ''Son's of Anarchy'' & ''True Blood'' playing, that is how the book for me was.

3.5 stars

Blurb:
Grayson “Gypsy” Gabor loves the ladies. As a matter of fact, the more the merrier. Life is good. That is until a mishap with a sexy-as-hell redhead leaves them mated. The eldest of vampires, Vlad Tepes, gives him a choice: Keep her or give her up for all eternity to his one-time best friend, Anton.

Tamera Cantrell sets her sights on the Vice President of the Sons of Sangue, Gypsy. But after a night gone wrong, she finds herself caught between one vampire who hates her and one who adores her. Now Tamera’s only got three short months to prove to the one who despises her that he can’t live without her.

Add in one Mexican Cartel, a vindictive primordial vampire, and a rival MC out for blood, and Gypsy has his hands full with club business. When Tamera’s life becomes endangered, Gypsy must act quick or chance losing her forever.

EXCLUSIVE excerpt from Sons of Sangue: Gypsy

Tamera let out a sigh and prepared for battle. It always was with Grayson. “What do you want, Gypsy?”

“Now that’s no way to treat your mate.”

“Then maybe you need to act like one.”

His nostrils flared, his obsidian gaze traveling the length of her.
“Don’t tempt me.”

Tamera laughed, feeling none of the humor. “That’s rich, Gypsy. I could strip naked and lay in that bed and you still wouldn’t act like a mate. So what is your real reason for being here?”

“Blondy.”

“What about him?”

“Stay the fuck away from him.”

“Are you serious? You don’t want me. You’ve made that perfectly clear.” Tamera’s voice trembled in her rising ire. “Vlad isn’t giving me much of a choice here. It’s you or Blondy. And you have made it perfectly clear you don’t want in on that equation.”

“You are still my mate until I say otherwise.”

“Since when have I been anything other than a thorn in your side?”

“E così vero, it is so true, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera hated when he called her my sweet red. It was a wasted term of endearment. His gaze traveled about the room, no doubt seeing little change. Tamera had been careful not to put her stamp on the place. She wanted Grayson to be able to move back in without his room being a constant reminder of her as the previous occupant should she be given to Anton. He shouldn’t have to suffer for her actions. Even though she wished Grayson would pick her, she certainly couldn’t fault him if he didn’t. That didn’t mean she would make his decision easy for him. Hell no, she would fight him every step of the way.

His black eyes landed on the unmade bed and stayed a long moment before glancing back at her. “You haven’t taken communion.”

It wasn’t a question, it was an accusation. She crossed her arms over her breasts, trying damn hard to ignore the fact his desire had kicked up when he had taken in the satin sheets. The scent of human blood all over him overshadowed that of his rising lust. He hadn’t bothered cleaning up before entering his old domain. Normally, he wouldn’t have come near his old room while she occupied it. Why now?

“Like you care.”

“I’m not heartless, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera let out a harrumph. “You could’ve fooled me.”

“Never doubt that I desire you. That has never been an issue.” He took the last few steps separating them, leaving only a hand’s width between them. He leaned down, close enough his breath fanned her cheeks. “Trust me, il mio dolce rossa, I would much rather fuck you than stand here arguing with you.”

Tears welled in her eyes. “You’re quite the romantic. You sure know how to woo a woman.”

“There is nothing romantic about my intentions where you’re concerned.”

Grayson’s lips were but a breath away from touching hers, and God help her, she wanted to taste him, no matter how crude he treated her. And damn if she didn’t hate herself for it.

“Then why not take what you want?” Tamera fisted her hands at her sides to keep from reaching out and touching him. “You and I both know I would never deny you. I’m already yours.”

The infuriating vampire growled, but instead took a step back. She felt the separation like a bucket of ice water. “Don’t mistake my desire for anything other than it is, Tamera. No matter what my dick wants, my heart still hates you.”

She couldn’t have stopped the tears from falling if she tried. The last thing she wanted was to give Grayson her dignity, and yet she had just handed it to him. Her heart ached at his beauty, beauty which would always be denied her. He really was a son of a bitch. She wanted to hate him, return his scorn. Yet, she only felt the heartache.

Another knock sounded on the door. Grayson’s gaze stayed focused on hers. “Come in,” he growled his response.

A young female donor walked into the room. Too cute for Tamera’s liking. She grit her aching teeth as she watched Grayson’s eyes roam over the petite young blonde, the complete opposite of her. Bastard. Tamera thought he meant to feed from the woman, right there in front of her, but instead he walked beyond the donor and said over his shoulder, “Eat,” before he quit the room.

Tamera collapsed to the bed, no longer having the energy to stand. But before she could succumb to tears, the young donor walked over, knelt between her spread knees and tilted her head to the side, offering Tamera her artery. She could no longer deny herself. Grasping the woman’s neck in one hand, Tamera sank her fangs into the donor’s flesh and drew in deep, mimicking the donor’s moan at the first taste of the woman’s blood.

                                                    excerpts
“I didn’t come here to bring up old wounds.” “Then why are you here?" “Because I fooled myself into thinking I cared…” She stopped herself from saying about you. “I heard about Wheezer and Red Dot. I had to come to see if you were all right. I’m sorry now that I did. I should’ve let you wallow in your self-hatred.” He stared hard at her, enough so she wished she could read what was going on behind those black hypnotic eyes. She wasn’t sure if he wanted to leap the counter and strangle her, or kiss her senseless. Though she preferred the latter, Suzi knew the repercussions of those actions would crush her. Before she could stop him, he vaulted the bar effortlessly and now stood mere inches from her. She could smell Jack Daniel’s on him, that and his intoxicating musk. Her heart nearly leapt from her chest. Kaleb leaned in, his nose brushing the soft skin beneath her right ear, causing a flutter in her lower abdomen. His canines scraped across the delicate flesh, telling her he was a hairsbreadth away from biting her. “I find I’m ravenous.” “Your problem, not mine.” Suzi stiffened her spine, ready for him to do as he desired regardless of her wishes. “I didn’t come here to offer you nourishment.” His right arm snaked around her, keeping her from fleeing. The fingers of his free hand toyed with the glass vial. “You’re a donor. You offer me what I need.” “I can’t stop you from feeding.” “I hear a but in there.” “I’m retired.” Kaleb stood back, releasing Suzi to stare down at her. Then he chuckled. His mirth misplaced given the situation. “I don’t find that funny.” “No?” He raised one black brow. “I find that rich. Suzi Stevens who offered her blood up to any Son who asked.” Her brows drew together. “It’s what a donor does.” “Yes, their blood … but not always do they spread their thighs.” “I am so done here. Go fuck yourself, Hawk.” When she turned to leave, Kaleb gripped her wrist and spun her back into his hold so that her back nestled against the erection he didn’t try to conceal. She knew he might not like it, might even hate the idea, but he desired her. “I told you, I’m hungry,” he whispered. His warm breath passed over the shell of her ear. An ache settled between her thighs. She’d die first. “And I told you I retired myself.” “Then I just un-retired you.” And with that, he sank his fangs into the soft spot just beneath her ear.
                                                      excerpts
“Well?” She drew his gaze upward. “Let’s get this the hell over with.” “You have somewhere else you need to be, piccolo diavolo?” “Maybe I do. But it sure in the hell does not include standing here having a tête-à-tête with you.” And the quicker she got him taking his fill, the sooner she could stop thinking of him in the horizontal with her straddling his lean hips. What the hell were those love handle things anyway that rode just above his jean line? Lord, those made her want to follow the muscle line with her tongue straight to his… Enough! At this rate, she’d never make it out of here unscathed. Remember why you hate him. Kaleb set the two wineglasses on a round table, uncorked the bottle and then poured them each a glass, before handing her one. Suzi quickly shook her head. Too much wine and she’d be promising Kaleb her tomorrows. “None for me. I’m not here to fraternize. Take what you came here for and I’ll be on my way. Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Hawk.” “It’s Kaleb to you.” “You will always be Hawk to me.” She caught a glimpse of his extended fangs as he took a swallow of the deep red wine then licked the remnants from his lips. His prominent brow only enhanced his dangerous look. And he called her little devil? He looked like the beast himself as his obsidian gaze seemed to swallow her whole. “It’s all the same, piccolo diavolo. But when I’m fucking you, I’d prefer you to call me by my given name.” “Well, then … no worries there, Hawk.” Suzi winked at him, then walked over to the end table and grabbed the other glass of wine, downing the contents in one swallow. If she were to endure his company, then she might as well do it with good wine. Tilting her head to the side, she asked, “Shall we?” “You are one cold-hearted bitch.” “It takes a cold heart to know one.”

  2. I love to camp. My husband and I have a camper and every weekend throughout the summer, we go to the campgrounds to kick back and relax, do a little boating, sit around the camp fire. I love the slow pace of life when we camp. It’s a great stress relief.

I also love country and have seen Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Taylor Swift and more … looking forward to Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert and Jake Owens this summer. But one of my favs was David Garrett this past spring in Chicago. His music saw me through the writing of Hawk, so it was fitting to see him live when I completed the book.
