Featured Interview & Give Aways With One Of My Fav's Its Jani Kay

I am super dooper lucky and excited to have Jani Kay here with me today, and boy getting our times synced was fun, Jani is one busy woman.

So far Jani has 3 books out and all have been rated by me as 5 star material, so do not miss out on the giveaway below.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a fiery Aries, a fiercely loyal and protective lioness, dynamic go-for-it kind of person – always seeking new adventures and challenges. I love mastering new things and learning all the time. Most of all I like to challenge myself to be better at whatever I decide to do.

Yet, I’m also an introvert. I need my own space to charge my batteries. So imagine the inner conflict!!

I try to stay true to myself at all times and am brutally honest—to my own detriment sometimes.

My family come first—always.  I’m blessed with two kids who are amazing young adults in spite of having me as a mother – a daughter and a son who I adore.

My hubby supports my writing and is my number one fan. That’s a big deal to me, because without that support I couldn’t spread my wings as much as he has helped me to do. As long as he believes I am a talented writer, I will believe him and try my best to prove that he is right.

I was born in South Africa and migrated to Perth, Western Australia 15 years ago to find a safe environment for my kids to grow up in. Africa will always be in my blood – I will never forget my roots. Yet, I love Australia with all my heart and would make the choice again in a heartbeat. My new home has been very good to my family and  I am grateful for it every day.

How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?

I’ve always wanted to write – my earliest memory is me sitting at a kid’s table at around 8 years old and writing stories in a notebook – you know the school type books? Yeah.  And every night I would tell my 2 younger brothers stories that sprung from my overactive imagination – in sequel style.

BUT, my fear held me back. Because if I never wrote and published that novel, I couldn’t fail right???

Until last year—when I realised that my fear of dying with REGRETS was BIGGER than my fear of failure. It was an AHA ‘Light Bulb’ moment for me.

It’s no co-incidence that one of my upcoming novels is named “NO Regrets.”

How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

I hope my readers will peel back the layers of each character and realise that there is a LOT more to each one of them than what’s on the surface – they have depth and soul – and I sincerely hope my readers can see that.

I want my readers to reflect on life’s questions that relate to the characters (love them or hate them) and to empathise with them for what they are going through.

What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?

I write from the heart, laying myself bare and vulnerable through my characters. I LOVE it when a reader GETS what I’m trying to convey through words— the DEEPER meaning beneath the obvious story lines. (Yes, although there are VERY steamy sex scenes in my books, the stories go a LOT deeper than that).

I love getting feedback from readers telling me they were touched by my stories and that it reached them on a soul level J

Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?

I love traveling. I would like to do a lot more of that. Maybe a few book signings in different countries? That would be beyond awesome.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

LOL. Read of course. I’m a voracious reader. I read business books, self-help and spiritual books and of course romance novels. (Um, I have a LOT of diet books on my shelves too…lol)

I’m also an avid Scrapbooker. I love the idea of laying down memories for generations to come, so that they can see what my and my family’s life is like. It also gives me a creative outlet and time to revisit the memories of when the photos were taken.

What can you tell us about your latest works?

So... Over Christmas my laptop crashed with 3 manuscripts on it. I’m devastated. I had NOT backed them up as it was a new laptop and of course computer crashes don’t happen to me, only to other people, right? WRONG. I LOST everything. Virus ate the memory and data was irretrievable.

In that time, waiting (not so patiently) to hear if geeks could fix my computer, I channeled all my anger & frustration into a new book – a badass biker named Ryder Knox. He became my vehicle for coping… and so his story was born J

I decided to make it short and sweet to ‘test the waters’ because I wasn’t sure I had it in me to write a biker book. Well, seems I have a badass biker chick inside me, cause Ryder is doing VERY well J

So right now I am writing Scorpions MC ~ Two Worlds Colliding to be released on 18 March (and YES, I’m triple backing up as I go!!!)

Then I will RE-write Firebird Trilogy Book 2: No Regrets (I was 2/3 in when I lost it all…) hoping to release by end of June.

What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

Scorpions MC ~ Two Worlds Colliding will release on 18 March – days before my birthday and the GC Author signing event I will be attending.

Then Firebird Trilogy Book 2: No Regrets in June.

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?

Firstly: A MILLION “Thanks You’s”. An author is nothing without an audience. Thank you for taking the time to read my books, to post a review and a special message or email. I appreciate it more than I can say in words!!

It has been an awesome journey so far—one I never expected in my wildest dreams. I have made friends with so many people all over the world, and even though we have never met in person, we have connected through the love of reading J

One of those special people is Katrina – she never fails to make me laugh – just at the right times too ;-)

I am humbled that people love my writing and support me in so many ways. Thank you – YOU rock J

PS: I always thought Michael Jackson was crazy when he said he LOVED his fans. I wish I could apologise to him in person because NOW I get it J

Do you have any parting words?

Follow your dreams – whatever they are. Overcome your fear and JUST DO IT!!
We all have something we would love to do, but are afraid to do because the personal stakes are too high if we fail.

Remember: NO Regrets. Make that your motto for life. It will be worth it!!
