Tears Of Tess (Monsters In The Dark #1) By Pepper Winters

Book Synopsis:

“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.

For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever.

My Review:

This is a book of mystery, the devious start to Tess's captivity leads you to believe that something sinister will happen to her, but once the story develops we learn that this is not only an adventure for Tess but it is her '' becoming''.

She lives a pretend life with Brax, where she makes him believe she is extremely happy but underneath she is absolutely miserable, so she tries to change certain things about herself but she realises she has left it too late to try and change herself, so to save their relationship she tries to introduce new things in the bedroom to try and show and explain to Brax just what she needs but this just absolutely terrifies him to the extent that he thinks she is weird.

And then she is taken hostage and she has moments where she regrets everything she ever said to Brax, and did and wishes that she could undo them all and pledge her forgiveness to him and make things better and take them back to where they were before all this madness began.

But once Tess meets Q she realises she has been awoken, that the life she lead before this was just a warm up, she now was truly living, this was the real Tess.

Things that she has often wondered and dreamed about have now become reality and she gets to rein act her dreams for real life and she is amazed at herself and what she is capable of.

She bonds with Q and when she feels he has betrayed her she runs at the first chance she gets and the first person she turns too is Brax, and she finds a phone and leaves a detailed message for him on his answer phone describing where she is and why she is who she is and how she wants to change for him if he can just send someone to find her, all will be better between them for ever.

But will it that is the whole point of this story can we really be happy if we live a life of make believe, how long can we keep up the pretense.

4 stars for me, this really draw me in and I cannot wait to read book 2

A Little About The Author:

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex. 
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
Her debut book Tears of Tess will be followed with Quintessentially Q. You didn’t think Q could stop so soon, did you? Her other two titles, Last Shadow and Broken Chance will be coming soon.
