This isn’t your typical story about boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after. No. This is a story about deception and betrayal at its finest. This is a story about hatred and attraction, which does everything in its power to destroy two people.
Essie Horton is a woman who has lived through unspeakable things during her short life, and when a prime opportunity presents itself, she dives right in, only concerned about herself and her objectives.
Drayden Warner is a man used to living the good life, bedding every beauty in sight, masking an empty existence, and hiding from a tragedy which happened years ago. Little does he know, his life will change forever when he meets the one woman who will possibly destroy him for good.
I’ve often been woken up in the early morning hours with a thought or sentence running through my mind, over and over again. It won’t stop until I get out of bed and write it down, most times turning into multiple chapters. A couple months ago, I had one single sentence on repeat, which ended up being the whole premise for my second book Redemption, which will be coming out on Feb 25th.
I often use whatever I have at my disposal to make sure that every thought is written down, whether that’s my actual laptop or my phone or a sticky note. I’m constantly bombarded with quotes or ideas all day long. The key is to capture them before I forget. I would hate to miss out on a classic line from one of my characters because I was too tired to write it down.
Once I’ve written the complete rough draft I will go back over it, switching and changing things that need to be adjusted. Then, when I’m satisfied with the draft, I’ll send it to my editor. When all adjustments have been made, I’ll go back over it again, making any other adjustments I feel are necessary. Then the very last step I take is to have my computer read the entire story back to me. This is not my favorite part but I feel it’s necessary. I’ve actually caught a few words which needed to be corrected as well as a few clunky sentences which didn’t quite flow right.
After I’m completely satisfied with the end result, only then will I hit the publish button. Even though I’m always anxious to get it out there to the world, I won’t publish anything I don’t believe is my absolute best.
So, there is my writing process in a nutshell. I know what I do doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me and I couldn’t be happier. ☺
