Today I’ve decided to write An Introduction to Poridos City. Now where is Poridos City you ask? Put down your maps, humans, you won’t find it on Earth.
My Guardians live in a world all their own, Selestia. Their domain is comprised of one very large Centreland, and hundreds of small islands of its many coasts. Right in the middle of the Centreland is a grand, posh and bustling city, Poridos. The allure of this city is threefold.
One: The shopping. If you’re looking for expensive and unique goods to make your house sparkle, then you should be hitting the glistening arcade mall, but be sure to bring your credit cards because nothing in Poridos is free.
Two: The postcode. Anyone who is anyone lives in Poridos, whether it’s within the metropolitan itself, or just outside the limits in hills beyond, speckled with high-priced getaway villas.
Three: To the north of the great city is a building, made of ancient crystal, that gleams in the afternoon sun. Three tall towers of crystal stretch high into the sky. The first pillar is the tallest, stretching over forty-stories. This luminous building is home to the Montarus family, The Guardians of Selestia, and has belonged to royalty for thousands of years. The Poridos residents are some of the most obsessed with the Guardians; they follow their in the paper, on the news and attend public appearances.
And of course every young, eligible lady in the Poridos region has her hand raised high, in the hopes of scoring a personal meeting with nineteen-year-old Successor Leo, middle-child to the throne, and the most illegible and handsome bachelor in all of Selestia.
Poridos is not modelled after any real city in particular. However it is designed to a highly manufactured place, for example they water plastic plants to make them look realistic. In Bound a lot of the action is centred around The Guardians Tower and Poridos. As the books progress other areas will be explored, but Poridos is the anchor point of the series. The great city is seen as untouchable, indestructible and somewhat hallowed. So bring your expensive handbags and oversized sunglasses, because it’s time to explore the city.
