I am a New Adult
author from the U.S.
I’m a wife, mother to two boys, and I used to be a voracious reader until I
became a writer. Now, I’m lucky if I can sneak in a few books every month, so
they’d better be good! Oh. And I’m also a pop culture junkie (80s are my
specialty) and a lifelong Jersey girl.
How did you
become a writer, and did you always want to write?
I didn’t grow up
knowing I wanted to be an author, but I always wrote: Kept a diary through most
of my life, wrote plays and short stories when I was younger, composed bad
poetry in high school. While on bed-rest with my first son, I needed a way to
pass the stagnant hours. That’s when I started writing my first book. Eleven
years later, I’m rewriting it—again—and
finally getting ready to actually release it.
How do you hope
your readers react to the stories you write?
I want them to laugh,
swoon, cry… but mostly, I want the characters to stay with them long after
they’ve finished the book.
What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?
I love the people who
send me emails, asking if I spied on them their whole lives and wrote my books
based on them. I also love the readers who refuse to believe me when I say
Remember When is not an
autobiography.
Other than
writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?
Good question. First and foremost, I hope to raise these two amazing boys so
that they turn into two incredible men. I hope my husband and I get to grow old
together. I hope to buy a beach house in Lavallette one day. I hope to get my
charity T-shirt business off-and-running again. I also hope to drop 30 lbs. and
bring about world peace… but there are only so many hours in a day and a girl
has to prioritize.
What do you like
to do in your spare time?
Spare time??? I’ve
always loved to read, but unfortunately, I’ve had to make the choice between
that and writing. I manage to squeeze in a few books every now and again,
however. I also love movies, girls’ night out, and family game night, and I’m
constantly redecorating the house (at least in my own mind).
What can you
tell us about your latest works?
DOWN THE SHORE (summer
2014) is a rock-and-roll romantic comedy that takes place at the Jersey shore in 1995. That was such a great time for
music, even for those of us that didn’t live in Seattle .
The follow-up to DTS
is BRIDESMAID FROM HELL (fall 2014), and is a bit of a departure from my usual
genre. The lead character is a self-absorbed wrench-in-the-gears in her
supposed best friend’s wedding, aka the girl you love to hate. Anyone who has
ever been a bride—or a bridesmaid—will relate.
What stories
can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?
I have a third
standalone in the DTS series planned. Then two additional books (and a possible
Trip novella) should round out the entire Norman Series to my satisfaction.
After that, I’m counting on divine inspiration.
What would you
like to say to your fans in New
Zealand and others worldwide?
I’d like to say that
I don’t refer to them as fans! LOL. But to my current and potential readers… thank you.
Do you have any
parting words?
Just these: Thank you
and happy reading!
