Featured Interview For Lisa Suzanne - Author Of ''How She Really Feels''

We are lucky enough today to have Lisa Suzanne with us in the Interview Hot seat, so let's go find out a little about her.

Hi Lisa

Tell us a little about yourself.

In addition to being an author, I also teach high school English full time. I have published five books and I’m part of two anthologies. Here’s a little about each of my novels:

How He Really Feels (He Feels, Book 1)

Julianne and her boss embark on a sexy affair that’s everything Julianne ever dreamed of... except she can’t tell anyone about it due to the company’s strict “No Dating” clause. What will happen if anyone finds out about their secret relationship? And how will Travis, her lifelong best friend, react when Julianne begins a relationship with someone who isn’t him?

What He Really Feels (He Feels, Book 2)

Will Travis ever figure out What He Really Feels, or will he be stuck on his first love forever? Will he find his happily ever after?

Since He Really Feels (He Feels, Book 3)

Julianne and Nick know they should form a united front, but knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things. Will Travis’s presence in their life pull them together or push them apart? Find out in the passionate and emotional concluding book of the He Feels Trilogy.

Separation Anxiety

We all get one true love in our lives, and it’s up to us to find it. Fate will act and try to push us together, but ultimately it’s up to us to recognize who that one person is when he’s standing in front of us. If only my husband would stop getting in the way of the man with whom I was meant to be.

Side Effects

She isn’t interested in commitment. She doesn’t want a relationship. The confident Quinn is never nervous around men, so what is it about preppy Reed Porter that has her questioning everything? And what will be the side effects of attempting to juggle two men at the same time?

How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?

I have written since probably high school, back when I used to write my stories on yellow legal pads (I still have some of them). I recall a creative writing class that stuck with me, and I remember writing stories that weren’t assignments for class. I didn’t really consider publishing, but every day when I got home from work, I would write for a few hours as a way to relax. Then one day in 2012 I decided to get over my insecurities, and I shared one of my stories with my husband, and soon after he happened to hear a podcast about self-publishing. I decided to give it a try in May 2013, and I’ve never looked back!

How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

My favorite thing to hear is when readers loved one of my books so much that they couldn’t put it down. I always hope that I keep readers engaged in the story and that they can take something from it, whether it’s hope for their own happy ending or happiness at the story’s end.

What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?

I had a few people message me after I released Separation Anxiety who told me that they could really relate to the book because they were going through a divorce of their own. To hear that my story helped them get through a hard time in their lives meant so much to me.

Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?

Apart from anything to do with writing, someday I’d like to have kids.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Write. I don’t have a whole lot of spare time anymore since I teach all day and write and market books all night. I like to hang out with my husband and we love to take our dog for long walks.

What can you tell us about your latest works?

I’m working on spinoff of Side Effects. It’s about Quinn’s brother, Grant. This will be told from the male perspective, and it’s been a lot of fun to write so far!

What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

Lots more stories! I have another trilogy already written, but I need to go back through it because I’ve had some ideas for changing the story. I have a few other standalone ideas, and another series idea. There’s a lot more coming down the road from me!

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?

Thank you for reading! Thank you especially to those of you who leave reviews. They are so important to authors and we really appreciate it.

Do you have any parting words?

My favorite quote about writing: “Write drunk. Edit sober.” –Ernest Hemingway. :)
