Featured Interview With Author A K Michaels

I am lucky enough to have author Ava Michaels here with me today, so lets quiz her a little and see how she is and what we can look forward too in the furture.

Hi Ava

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a wife, mother, and nana! I've been married for a long time and we have three kids and now three teenies as well. Not quite sure where the years have gone? Anyone got the answer to that?

How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?

I'm a fairly new writer, only started at the urging of my therapist (I'm OCD) to get the weird and wonderful things that were in my head out! Took me a while to start but once I did I find I can't stop! There's always new things popping into my head so I just keep writing.

How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

Laugh, cry, feel happy and sad. I try to put a host of different emotions into my words and hope that comes across - oh yeah - and some steamy scenes!

What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?

Oh jeez, I'm embarrassed to say! I tried to do it on my own - and got some feedback about lack of commas and certaining wordings so bit the bullet and got an editor (who is fabulous!) and a professional proofreader (who is also great!) so that the books have been made better. If I hear something that I think I can improve on then I do it though you can't please everyone but as I'm OCD I do try which can be a bit draining.

Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?

Live, love, read! I've started to put that at the end of my books because I think those three words sum up everything!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spare time? Nope don't have any of that at the moment lol. Or very little, I do love reading to the wee ones and, yes, I do make all the funny voices of different characters! I like a nice glass of Zinfandel rose while chilling and catching up on my TV programmes.

What can you tell us about your latest works?

At this very moment I'm working on a 'challenge' my editor has set me! He is a busy man and I had said I had started The Witch, The Wolf and The Vampire, book 3, and he said if I could get it finished within three weeks he would have a slot for it. Sooooo I took him up on that challenge and it's going great! In this one there is loads happening and I don't want to give too much away as it would spoil it but I'm having an absolutely great time writing it!

What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

I've got TWO new series in my head - one which will feature Ronan (who's appeared in both The Witch, The Wolf and The Vampire and Sabrina's Vampire) and I'm really excited to get started on that. The other one is a Wolf series - and the Alpha is HOT! Also can't wait to get started on that, specially as the Alpha will be coming from my native Scotland to a Pack on the border between the US and Canada!

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?

Oh gosh, I just hope that you like my stories and those magic three words - Live, Love, Read!

Do you have any parting words?

Thanks for having me, I'm still a little bemused by it all, I honestly didn't think when I pressed 'publish' last year that I would be doing this kinda stuff or that anyone would actually buy my books lol! Also, if you ever have thought on writing - don't do what I did and put it off for so very many years - do it. Just sit down and start and see where it takes you 'cause I certainly had no idea where it would take me! It's an amazing feeling when you see your stories live and folks enjoying them!
