Today I am excited to share my blog totally with K.B Mallion, or Kim as I know her.
We have lots of teasers planned from AFA , We have a great giveaway on offer of A Famous Affair so you too can read it and fall in love with it once it is release for publication that is.
And a general get to know me role with Kim herself.
Lets Begin:
Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a mummy to 6. Ages range from 4 to 20. I have 4 guinea pigs and one husband. I don't drink a lot but when I do, I only drink vodka or gin. I love going to car boot sales and perusing charity shops, a Brit bargain babe!
I love singing and dancing and even at the age of 41 I can still show some moves on the dance floor! Myself and friends regularly enjoy SINGSTAR nights, with nibbles, gossip and a sing off!
I can talk, A LOT!
I laugh, A LOT! Usually to the silliest of things!
How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?
I've been writing since a teenager, mainly lyrics and poems. I often wrote poems for friends and family but I guess motherhood and life in general took over and I began writing less and less. About 2 years ago I was feeling guiltily unsatisfied, as much as I had a wonderful family life, I NEEDED to start writing again. So a friend suggested an app called Opuss. I began writing things on there and experimented with writing short stories. My confidence grew with the support of all my Opussian friends and I began reading erotic romance about the same time and loved it! Following a drunken conversation with friends the seed was sown for my debut novel, A Famous Affair. I went home and started writing notes. I didn't know whether I could pull it off but writing had returned to me with a new vengeance and I realised that this was what I was meant to be doing. Deep down I've always wanted to be a writer but the fear of being ridiculed for 'living with my head in the clouds' always held me back. That's no longer the case now....writing and motherhood are the two things I know how to do. I always say that I didn't choose to write....it chose me.
How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?
My debut novel and its sequel follow the lives of two characters brought together by fate and ultimately have an affair and I know that some readers may not like a book that is based on adultery. However I've tried to encapsulate the love story in amongst the turmoil. I've tried to create realistic and relatable characters that will draw the reader into their story. That the emotions on paper will pass to those who read the words. In all my stories, I hope to have realism, feeling and laughter. Life really is full of ups and downs and I'd like to think that my writing captures that too.
What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?
Any emotion felt by a reader affects me. Frankly, I'm still absolutely blown away by the fact that my words can evoke feelings of anger, hope, happiness, disappointment, arousal and sadness.....seriously it does.
I guess one comment that will forever stay with me was in fact from my husband. At the time he was struggling to understand my new found passion for writing because he'd never really seen it before. He knew I'd been writing a long time but he's not a reader and couldn't *get that drive and determination that most writers have. So one night I go out and he reads some of A Famous Affair. When I got home he told me he had read some of it and then said "I was shocked, I didn't know you could do that. I mean you're like a real writer!" It made me laugh and cry and I will never forget his words.
Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?
I want to travel. I want to meet new people, see new places and experience new things. I just want to enjoy a happy, healthy and balanced life.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I mentioned before singing and dancing but that's more with my friends. Any spare time I get, which is getting less and less it seems, is spent with my family. I love to not clock watch and just be together. Life flies by so quick and my writing does take up a lot of my time now so I appreciate my family so much more now.
What can you tell us about your latest works?
Jessica Neel is a mother and wife, she's happy but then a chance meeting with the A Lister, Jonny Riley throws her life completely off course. Jonny is a British actor who is the nations sweetheart but beneath his glory and fame lies a very lonely man. They both fight against their very wrong feelings for one another but sometimes life does throw a serious spanner in the works. Their story is passionate, painful and problematic.
I'm currently working on the sequel to A Famous Affair and have my third novel dying to get written too. It will be a standalone and boy do these characters want to be heard! I am super busy but absolutely loving that the ideas are flowing!
What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?
Although I don't like to be pigeon holed in what I write, all my stories will have some hot mamma sauce poured on the top of what I believe are key ingredients to a good book....love, friendship, tears, happiness, anger, confusion, lust, contentment and joy....I want every page to be like a succession of little journeys for the reader.
What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?
I AM COMING!!! Lol!
All joking aside I CANNOT wait to actually meet those who read my books, to be able to actually have a chat with them is going to be truly wonderful. I also cannot wait to mingle with all the other amazingly talented authors whom I admire so very much and of course to meet all the bloggers who are helping me achieve my dream...sounds cheesy as hell but it's true.
Do you have any parting words?
Don't EVER give up on your dream...life is too short to worry about what others think...it's your life...LIVE IT!!
