Spotlight Featured Today On Selena Laurence, Author of Camouflaged And Concealed

I have Selena Laurence with me today, and as I'm reading her book Concealed right now, and she is a new author to me,  I personally am excited to find out a little bit more about her and her up coming works.
So Selena the ball is now in your court, so to speak.

We also have a giveaway happening of A Lush Betrayal so look out for that on my facebook page

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a wife and a mom to four kids, ages 24 to 10. Two of them came with my husband when I married him, the other two I had to get the hard way. We live in north of Denver, Colorado with a golden doodle and a chubby little cat. I write full-time, and love every minute of it.

How did you become a writer, and did you always want to write?

I’ve always written, but I haven’t always wanted to be a writer, mostly because I didn’t think it was a possibility. I was raised to be very practical, and you didn’t do stuff like become a writer, but ironically, in every job I’ve ever had my writing was the skill employers most wanted from me. And of course I majored in English, so obviously something was floating around in my subconscious.

How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

I hope I make them feel things, all sorts of things – happiness, sadness, love, anger, whatever. Fiction, and especially romance fiction, is entertainment, it’s therapy, it’s escape. I hope my books can provide those things for readers.

What responses to your writing have affected you the most and why?

Absolutely the glowing reviews. Those times when someone writes something so beautiful about your book, that you’re just left stunned. No matter how many times it happens, I still get that rush from it.

Other than writing great stories, what other goals do you have for your life?

Probably the same sorts of things anyone might have, I want to be healthy, I want to raise my kids to be good, successful people. I’m old enough that I’ve done a lot of the things I’ve wanted to – married a great guy, had beautiful babies, nice houses, all that stuff. Now it’s like the rest is icing on the cake. Oh, and I guess I should add that I really want to get a tattoo! But I’ve sworn I’ll only get one if I make the USA Today or New York Times bestseller lists. So, go buy more books! LOL

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My kids do a lot of sports, so I spend a ridiculous amount of time at soccer games and gymnastics meets. I also love to read (this shocks you, I know), and I have some favourite shows that I keep up with (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy). But really, mostly I work.

What can you tell us about your latest works?

My February release is called A Lush Betrayal. It’s the first book in a new series about a rock band. Each band member will have his own book, and this first one is about the hot mess of a lead singer, and the sexy young photojournalist who’s hired to film the band’s tour.
In April I’ll be releasing Buried, the final book in my Hiding From Love series. Buried is about a young man who was heavily involved in gang violence and what happens to him after he’s released from prison. He falls in love with a girl he knew growing up, and they’ve got to figure out how to get his life back after such a rough start.

What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

As I said, the Lush series will continue throughout 2014. There will be four books in total: A Lush Betrayal, For the Love of a Lush, Lowdown and Lush, and A Lush Reunion. This summer I’ll be starting a new project that’s a little different, The Bittersweet Chronicles. It’s a series of novellas that are all set in a small southern U.S. town, Bittersweet, Alabama. There’s a high school and a college there, and characters will be from both schools. It’ll be set in the early-mid 1990s, so I’m calling it a “retro-romance” series.

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand and others worldwide?

Well, I’m happy to have some fans in New Zealand! I’ve sold quite a few books in the UK, but I haven’t gotten quite as far in NZ, Australia and Canada. I hope that readers in those countries will give some of my books a try, and let me know what they like to see in their romance novels. I love to hear from readers anytime!

Do you have any parting words?

The best way to keep up with my new releases is to sign up for my newsletter: http://bit.ly/1mtE0pJ
It comes out once a month and always gives subscribers a unique chance to win something or be first to receive a new release.

Thanks very much for having me Trina!
